About The Dedicated Souls
The Dedicated Souls is a gospel group born out of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2005, with a calling to deliver music that is soulful, soul-stirring, and inspiring. From humble beginnings to national recognition, the group has remained grounded in their faith and committed to ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ through powerful, authentic sound.
The group was originally founded by James Clay, Darius Byers, Toine Porter, Quintez Mathews, Kevaughn Byers, and the late Jonathan Garrett (RIP), whose voice and presence remain a vital part of the group’s legacy.
In 2013, The Dedicated Souls took 1st place at the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), a milestone that affirmed their unique sound and calling.
Influenced by legendary gospel voices such as The Canton Spirituals, The Soul Seekers, Tim Rogers & the Fellas, Fred Hammond, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson, and Lisa Knowles-Smith & The Brown Singers, The Dedicated Souls’ style reflects a deep love for traditional quartet blended with fresh, contemporary soul. Several members have had the honor of playing for, recording with, or serving alongside some of these iconic artists.
Their discography includes:
• “Stood By” (2017)
• “All of My Help” (2021)
• “Glory” (2023)
• “Live in Cincinnati” (2025) – featuring “Make Up Your Mind,” “Try God,” and “Send Me, I’ll Go”
Today, the current lineup—Darius Byers, James Clay, Mathew Abramsohn, Aaron Gordan Jr., Toine Porter, and Jayviar Porter—continues to carry the torch forward, combining anointed vocals, unified brotherhood, and a relentless passion to see lives changed through gospel music.
Our Vision
Our vision is to establish a kingdom-driven group of men deeply committed to the gospel and to creating music that uplifts, serves, and inspires people.
We aim to foster an environment where each member can bring their authentic self to the music, contributing their unique creativity to every song. Collaboration and mutual respect are at the heart of what we do, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.
Above all, we strive to be a shining example of kingdom men in the music industry—demonstrating integrity, unity, and purpose in everything we create.
“Therefore we are ambassadors of the Messiah; in effect, God is making his appeal through us. What we do is appeal on behalf of the Messiah, ‘Be reconciled to God!’”
